On March 5, a delegation from the School of Media and Communication (SMC) at Shenzhen University visited Shenzhen Zhonghong Online Co., Ltd. as part of its ongoing action plan to strengthen industry engagement and expand student career opportunities. The delegation was led by Acting Associate Dean Guang Yang, alongside Deputy Party Secretary Yiming Chen, Associate Head of the Department of Internet and New Media Pianpian Wang, and Deputy Director of the National Experimental Teaching Center Jiawei Yan. Discussions focused on advancing university–industry collaboration in areas such as internships, talent development, and joint research platforms.

The visit began with a tour of Zhonghong Online’s exhibition space, offering an overview of the company’s development since its founding in 2006. As a leading provider of internet governance services in China, the company has built a strong reputation in online content governance and big data analytics, supported by extensive industry experience and technological expertise.

During the subsequent roundtable discussion, Acting Associate Dean Guang Yang expressed appreciation for the company’s warm reception. She emphasized the need for interdisciplinary training and closer alignment with industry practices, noting that SMC’s focus on intelligent media and digital governance closely aligns with Zhonghong Online’s strategic direction. She also invited the company to participate in curriculum development, integrating real-world expertise into the classroom teaching.

Yiming Chen stressed the importance of hands-on experience in preparing students for the job market, proposing the establishment of joint training programs and internship hubs. Jiawei Yan suggested co-establishing a public opinion research lab to connect academic research with industry needs, while Pianpian Wang proposed developing practice-oriented intensive courses in public opinion analysis and digital communication.

Representatives from Zhonghong Online responded positively to the proposals. Company leaders shared insights into their strategic focus, particularly in AI-driven digital governance and human–machine collaboration. The company also expressed interest in jointly establishing a think tank and offering internship opportunities in areas such as public opinion analysis, new media operations, and product management. Initial steps would include building internship partnerships and co-developing courses.

This visit marks a key step in SMC’s efforts to deepen industry collaboration and expand career pathways for students. The School will continue its action plan with leading enterprises such as Zhonghong Online, further refine its collaborative education model, and foster talent equipped to drive innovation in the media and communication sector.
