In a strategic effort to strengthen university-media collaboration and foster high-quality career opportunities for students, the School of Media and Communication (SMC) organized an industry visit to China Media Group (CMG) Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Radio on March 5, 2025. Led by Dean Naipeng Chao, a delegation of over 20 members—including Associate Dean Huaxin Peng, Assistant Deans Tiantian Zhang and Wensen Huang, department chairs, and graduate student representatives—participated in the visit.
During the visit, the delegation explored CMG Center’s cutting-edge broadcasting facilities, gaining hands-on experience with its integrated media studio, radio production system, and news editing platforms. These engagements highlighted CMG’s pioneering approach in innovative media operations. Notably, CMG Greater Bay Radio, launched on September 1, 2019, is China’s first national-level media platform dedicated to serving the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
CMG representatives also shared the organization’s development journey and emphasized the growing demand for young talent skilled in international communication, global discourse systems, and digital media expertise. In response, Dean Naipeng Chao introduced SMC’s latest initiatives, including the newly launched Master’s program in International Communication and the establishment of the Hong Kong College. These programs aim to cultivate interdisciplinary professionals with both cultural confidence and global competencies. He praised CMG’s achievements in content innovation and cross-border communication, noting its significance as a model for the school’s talent development and practical training.
The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions, laying the groundwork for future collaboration. SMC expressed its commitment to deepening ties with CMG Greater Bay Radio through resource integration, regular academic-industry exchanges, and joint initiatives to foster synergy in education. These efforts will further empower a new generation of storytellers capable of articulating China’s narratives effectively on the global stage.
