From March 27th to March 29th, Professor Kjerstin Thorson, Associate Dean of the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University, visited the School of Media and Communication at Shenzhen University. Vice President Zhang Xiaohong warmly welcomed Professor Thorson on behalf of the university and expressed her hope for enhancing future cooperation between the two colleges.
Dean Chao Naipeng, Associate Dean Yang Guang, and department heads from the School of Media and Communication attended the symposium on institutional collaboration. The meeting involved thorough and detailed discussions of potential collaborative activities, including student exchange programs, joint international academic conferences, the establishment of joint laboratories, etc.
During the visit, Professor Thorson delivered a captivating academic lecture and participated in an academic seminar with young professors, providing insights into the new trends and challenges in journalism and communication in the era of datafication. Apart from academic activities, Professor Thorson also visited two renowned local hi-tech enterprises, Tencent and DJI. She expressed admiration for the achievements of both companies and anticipated future collaborations in the intersection of journalism and communication with technological innovation.
Looking ahead, SMC aims to continue collaborating and exchanging with well-known universities domestically and internationally and advancing our school in the field of journalism and communication.
